Pact recently celebrated its 20th aniversary in Madagascar with a celebration attended by Eric Wong, US Embassy Charge d'Affaires, and numberous civil society, government officials and development organizations in attendance. Pact's work in Madagascar dates back to 1991, when we served as grants manager of a community-based natural resource management project designed to support the country's Environmental Action Plan. Since, then Pact's work has dramatically evolved in many sectors such as HIV/AIDs, Civic Education, Local Governance, Environmental Governance, Vulnerable Children, Regional/Urban/Local planning, Corporate Community Engagement, NGOs Capacity-Building, Media Monitoring and Good Governance/Anti-Corruption. We are considered a leader in the development of innovative approaches and tools. Some of our most notable approaches include Geographic Information Systems analysis, the use of information technology-related tools for community empowerment, the Local Governance Barometer (LGB), and governance strengthening to improve and sustain the provision of quality service delivery. Pact Madagascar expertise is widely recognized nationally and internationally. Our multisector services offer a unique capacity in knowledge engineering, and in recent years, we been reached out to by new donors, both public and private. Currently, Pact operates three projects in Madagascar: Combating Exploitive Child Labor through Education, funded by the US Department of Labor; The Global Fund Round Eight Tuberculosis Program; and Malaria Control and Eradication, supported by The Global Fund.
