From June 2010 to March 2011, Pact worked in Mongolia through the Khukh Tenger Khugjil Konsortsium (KTKK), which was formed in response to a tender by Oyu Tolgoi, LLC in Mongolia in order to design a Community Health, Safety and Security Program (CHSSP) for communities most impacted by the development of the Oyu Tolgoi mine.

KTKK comprised six partner organizations and 30 resource partners from the government, academia, the private sector and civil society. KTKK took a participatory approach to working with communities in the Oyu Tolgoi area to identify their needs and concerns associated with the development of the mine. Pact's work on this project will help ensure that these communities realize the benefits of the investment taking place in the region and have their interests protected throughout the course of the Oyu Tolgoi project.
