System/Network Administrator

Position Summary
This position will be responsible for configuring, supporting, troubleshooting and administering a variety of Windows servers including File and Print servers, MS Exchange Servers, IIS Web Servers, SQL Database servers, and  other windows-based servers

These duties will include monitoring and maintaining application servers, domain controllers, database servers and Active Directory. Additionally this individual will be responsible for managing IT projects, deploying new solutions and making recommendations.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure support including but not limited to preventative maintenance, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, performance analysis, report generation, planning, system upgrades, hardware, software, OS, applications, and disaster recovery solutions to ensure reliability of network
  • Maintain helpdesk, prioritizing and responding to open tickets, closing tickets, and providing progress reports on helpdesk to senior management.  Provide answers to service questions regarding planned and unplanned outages. 
  • Develop and document operation procedures for Windows servers and applications, and maintain documentation of user manuals and configurations.  Ensure that policies and procedures for monitoring, maintaining and troubleshooting the network are complete, accurate and up-to-date
  • Monitor and maintain a virus management system
  • Windows AD and user administration duties corporate wide, including creating users and groups; assigning user and group rights; setting up shares, volumes and directories; and monitoring servers, storage and events corporate wide
  • Administer the AD, FTP, DNS, DHCP, SSL, WINS services
  • Implement and support Microsoft WSUS, Active Directory, Group Policies, and SQL servers
  • Maintain network status and performance; assist in the development of reliability and efficiency solutions; and assess vulnerability of network hardware and software
  • Maintain and configure end-users for off-site information management including connectivity with other networks, remote access, cellular phones, and portable workstations
  • Provide support for A/V equipment
  • Maintain hardware and software inventory, warranties, and licensing
  • Handle procurement for IT including maintaining contacts vendors, obtaining quotes, providing correct documentation for purchases, and tracking purchases
  • Provide training to staff on software and newly implemented solutions
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with Windows 2003 platforms and Exchange 2003/2007
  • Demonstrated experience with Windows operating system, Dell servers, Windows 2003 server Standard and Enterprise Level
  • Demonstrated ability in BackupExec, Virus Management, Microsoft Office Suite 2007, and Microsoft Windows 2003 Active Directory, Group policies
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and system level problems
  • Experience in Windows workstation and server Patch Management using either WSUS or other tools
  • Ability to install and configure server hardware including operating system and additional software to configure for optimal use
  • Knowledge in rack and install physical server hardware and peripheral devices
  • Experience in Windows workstation and server Patch Management using WSUS or other tools
  • Capacity to administer AD, FTP, DNS, DHCP, SSL, WINS services
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, including the ability to generate and interpret documents, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability and willingness to work “on call” after hours and on weekends as required

Education and Experience Requirements
BS Degree in Information Systems or Computer Science, or equivalent experience and a minimum of three years of experience in administering Windows platform and servers.
