Senior Technical Advisor, Peace Building

Position Summary
The Senior Technical Advisor will work with the Country Representative to develop and implement a peace building assessment, program strategies and work plans. S/he will also be an integral part of trainings, curriculum development and the rollover grant agreements, APSs and/or RFAs by performing technical reviews of applications and participating in the selection process. S/he will coordinate all technical assistance, as needed, for the implementation of grantee activities.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist Country Representative in the development and implementation of peace building assessments, program strategies, program reports, and work plans.
  • Assist in preparation of rollover grant agreements, APSs and/or RFAs, perform technical review of applications and participate in the selection process including the development of technical questions for applicants as necessary.
  • Conduct technical monitoring visits to grantees.
  • Coordinate all technical assistance activities related to the implementation of grantee activities.
  • Compile regular program and technical status reports on grantee projects.
  • Maintain an inventory of key experts on peace building assist in the selection and coordination of technical assistance provision and convening of technical review panels.
  • Serve as spokesperson and advocate within and outside of Pact on peace building issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing and monitoring peace building program activities.
  • Demonstrated organizational, training and facilitation skills; workshop design experience a plus.
  • Experience working with vulnerable groups and multi-sectoral partners, civil society, returnees, international PVOs, community leaders, and policy makers on issues related to peace building.
  • Knowledge of and experience in qualitative and quantitative program evaluation.
  • Excellent oral communication and writing skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a team setting.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Education and Experience Requirements
  • Professional advanced degree, preferably a Master’s in international development, conflict and security, or peace building.
  • Ten years experience in international peace building programs with regional or Nepal experience preferred.
  • Computer literacy in Word, Excel and PowerPoint are required.
