AIRTDS conducted participatory research to evaluate the needs of orphans and vulnerable children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in foster care. AIRTDS conducted key informant interviews to determine levels of acceptance of OVC in foster families and communities, quality of care by primary caregivers, and availability of psychosocial support for OVC and their foster families. Study results were used to both strengthen AIRTDS support services for OVC and foster families, and develop tools for advocacy and community programming.
