TREE investigated new roles for early child development (ECD) practitioners in supporting orphans and vulnerable children in KwaZulu-Natal province. TREE utilized qualitative and quantitative research methods (including focus groups and key informant interviews) to assess community perceptions of how OVC can best be supported and nurtured. Results were used to develop a manual in Zulu to assist ECD practitioners in the identification of, and care and support for OVCs.
