The Constructive Dialogue Initiative seeks to respond to windows of opportunity to enhance political space, to promote dialogue among diverse groups in ways that build trust and promote consensus building, and to reinforce conflict prevention and transformation efforts at the national level. These initiatives complement ongoing peace building work at the regional and local levels. The project promotes enhanced government-civil society collaboration in democratic governance processes and increased effectiveness of national level conflict management policies and practices, emphasizing government-civil society partnerships. Over the life of the project, CDI will support civil society capacity to engage in advocacy campaigns, set in motion enabling legislation and regulation of civil society, provide training in conflict resolution to key civil society and government actors, implement a public information campaign on religious tolerance promote understanding of ethnic or religious tensions, and strengthen efforts to mitigate conflict among polarized groups.
