The Metebaber project seeks to increase girls' and women's access to health services and enhance their participation in political, economic and social spheres. The project develops the financial, technical and organizational capability of Ethiopian civil society and non-governmental organizations to implement promote women's empowerment activities in the areas of HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, gender and advocacy against female genital mutilation (FGM) issues in communities. Metebaber provides grants and financial management to local organizations, as well as organizational assessment assistance and technical training in designing project strategies and interventions. The project also implements WORTH, Pact's internationally acclaimed women's empowerment model that combines literacy with village banking and micro entrepreneurship. Metebaber operates in Oromia, SNNPR, Amhara, Afar, Benishangul Gumuz, Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa.

Partners

Metebaber works with 30 local community-based organizations that implement small-scale activities in the areas of HIV/AIDS, women and girls' empowerment, community-based reproductive health, fighting FGM, family planning, education and advocacy for reproductive health and human rights.
