Muslim Agencies Recharging Capacities against HIV/AIDS (MARCH)

Muslim Agencies Recharging Capacities against HIV/AIDS (MARCH)

Name: Muslim Agencies Recharging Capacities against HIV/AIDS (MARCH)
Duration: September 2005 - March 2009
Donors: USAID

MARCH builds the capacity of Muslim faith-based NGO partners to effectively and efficiently implement programs that focus on reducing risk behavior for the transmission of HIV/AIDS. In addition to building the capacity of our local partners, MARCH provides them with activity grants to implement prevention interventions that teach abstinence and be faithful messages. These educational activities are conducted by imams, Q'uranic teachers, dawahs, and youth peer promoters, who integrate the teaching of moral values and responsible parenting with related messages in the Koran. The project operates in thirteen districts of Oromia, Harari, Afar, Somalia, Amhara, and Tigray.
