Under a project supported by Pact Thailand, NCA has initiated three different projects.  In Chiang Mai it worked to enhance knowledge of HIV prevention and care for Laotian Buddhist monks studying in Chiang Mai, Thailand.  The Buddhist monks were trained to develop and implement care and support activities in their communities in Laos.

In Yangon, Myanmar, NCA work with PLHIV to establish networks of PLHIV in other areas of Myanmar.  NCA, in partnership with Myanmar Council of Churches (MCC) worked in nine states with local church associations under MCC as the local partners. In the areas covered by MCC, PLHIV have set up their own self-help groups and area networks.  The project established a drop-in-center, in Yangon that serves as resource center for the PLHIV networks from the nine areas.

In Southern Thailand, in the Khampuan District, NCA’s initiative focused on developing a community mobilization model that promotes empowerment of women and PLHIV in the Muslim Community.  The activities were aimed at training women as peer educators in HIV prevention and care and at enhancing knowledge on HIV and increase positive attitudes towards PLHIV among community members.
