Ecuador

Though relatively new in Ecuador, Pact has made substantial gains towards its overall goal of connecting those who need capacity building services with those who offer them, while doing it more effectively and efficiently, utilizing the best tools and methodologies available and at the most local level possible.

Pact Ecuador's approach centers on four main service areas:

  • Institutional strengthening of local civil society organizations,
  • Institutional strengthening of local government offices,
  • The creation of economic opportunities,
  • The advancement of sustainable environmental services for grassroots development.

Through local and regional partnerships Pact Ecuador is building its reputation as a trusted and respected leader in development. Pact Ecuador has been able to effectively identify the development needs and priorities of Ecuador and is developing a line of services and products that respond directly to those needs. Through these efforts, Pact is not only gaining trust amongst other development organizations, but also with the people of Ecuador.

Pact Ecuador's overall strategy is to establish itself as the premier provider of services in each of its four main service areas while focusing on three specific roles related to this service provision:

  • Coordination between the supply and the demand for development services.
  • Quality control in order to increase the impact of development efforts.
  • Introducing innovative project designs, methodologies and approaches to development work in Latin America.

Pact initially came to Ecuador as part of a long-term strategic vision to reestablish a strong presence in Latin America. On its own initiative, and in-line with the broader strategic vision of Pact in Latin America, Pact Ecuador has been able to bring in new contracts that put its expertise to work for the people of Ecuador. Working with organizations such as CARE, USAID, The Nature Conservancy and many local actors, Pact Ecuador is expanding its operations and its reach. With several projects underway from its four main service areas Pact Ecuador is establishing a strong presence in Ecuador. As regional coordinator for both Pact, and the Impact Alliance, Pact Ecuador is poised to eventually be able to distribute its products and services beyond the borders of Ecuador.

Pact Ecuador strengths come from its bottom-up approach, with an emphasis on empowerment and respect, combined with an open and creative workspace has attracted a team of associates that has a grand vision for Pact Ecuador and has the tools and knowledge that will enable Pact Ecuador to make that vision a reality. With several projects already under development, and more soon to come, Pact Ecuador will become a strong, sustainable force in Ecuador.

There is one thing that stands out the most about Pact Ecuador and the associates that have congregated here. It is the ever-present feeling that what is going on here is not simply the completion of contracts and development projects. Rather, it is a group of dedicated citizens of the world that are working to build a better society, a better world, and to improve the human condition. Many of these associates are working for less than what they could earn elsewhere, but they are not here just to do a job. They are here because they really believe that what is happening here is good for the people of Ecuador. It is no less than a group of visionaries that have the initiative to take what they are doing throughout Ecuador, then throughout Latin America.

Pact Ecuador's overall strategy can be summarized as follows:

  • Unify discourses in order to create a policy of integrated responses to problems of Ecuadorian and Latin American development.
  • Establish networks of alliances that strengthen Pact Ecuador's local development models and processes, with better methodologies and intervention strategies.
  • Foment the predominance of services and processes of high quality and high ethical standards.
  • Acquire more incidence in regional and national development setting agendas.
  • To be the convener of events/dialogues that are relevant to innovative approaches to local government strengthening, working within, and without the Impact Alliance.
