Letters from Our DonorsRelief for the victims of Cyclone Nargis has come from many sources, but two of the most touching are from grade school children who wanted to help where they could. The Birch Wathen Lenox SchoolClick here to view a letter from middle and upper school students of Birch Wathen Lenox School in New York city. Through several different fund-raising events, the students were able to donate $944.38 to Pact to help the people of Myanmar. The Beauvoir SchoolThe following email was sent by Trish Callard, a teacher at the Beauvoir School in Washington DC, whose second graders raised $120 through various projects.Traer - Thanks for your phone message. Our second grade was concerned about people in Myanmar and had seen pictures of the devastation both on the news at home and with pictures I had brought in to school..We were writing poetry at the time and one child commented that we could raise money by selling poems. Another chimed in that we could put together a book of our poems labeled Poems for Burma or Myanmar ..so we set up a stand during our Author’s Tea when parents would be here and sold them then and at other times before school and there was wonderful energy about this project..we raised about 120 dollars and Beauvoir is putting it in a check form for Pact but it takes a couple of weeks to process this . You will be sent this check and a letter from me I will hope this email reaches you but lets talk as well. We are so impressed by all the work Pact does to alleviate suffering in the world Best, Trish Callard Second Grade Teacher Beauvoir School |
