What is Pact Doing with REDD+?
Helping countries prepare for REDD
Pact employs a range of tools and interventions to develop national and regional policies that help a country prepare for REDD implementation. We work together with government and communities, building capacity and supporting them in the development of partnerships, dispute resolution, law enforcement, and favorable land tenure laws.
Establishing transparent, revenue-sharing mechanisms to benefit communities
With collaboration at the heart of Pact’s REDD work, we engage multiple stakeholders to help clarify issues around REDD revenue sharing and support the implementation of long term shared development programs implemented through REDD.
Supporting forest-dependent communities to fulfill REDD responsibilities
Pact works at the grassroots level with forest-dependent communities to ensure that they are working toward the reduction of deforestation, helping them understand the unique and vital role they play in REDD, while ensuring that they gain the most benefit from diversified income streams and available financial incentives.
Assisting governments and communities in selling carbon credits
Pact’s understanding of and experience with the voluntary market coupled with our strategic partnerships with firms specializing in carbon verification, validation and the sale of credits, allow us to support governments and communities throughout the entire process of REDD program conception to final carbon sale on the voluntary market.
