Promoting Sustainable Access

Promoting Sustainable Access to Health: An Educational and Economic Approach

Name: Promoting Sustainable Access to Health: An Educational and Economic Approach
Duration: October 2004-on-going
Donor: Stromme Foundation, Women's Issue Fund

In partnership with the Stromme Foundation and the Women's Issue Fund, Pact is helping address the lack of access to basic health care and financial services in Myanmar for the poor, primarily among women. Using a community-participation approach, activities within this project improve the livelihoods of the poor through financial services, business skills development, community organizing and health education.

Pact's technical approach focuses on combining community mobilization, capacity building initiatives, health education, business know-how, and provision of financial services to create opportunities for communities and individuals to take on the challenge of increasing their incomes and improving their health. More than 30,000 poor, rural community members have been reached with financial services and community health workshops.
