TRANSfering Technology

Name: MSM Programme
Dates: September, 2008 - August, 2009
Donor: amfAR - The Foundation for AIDS Research

TRANSfering Technology is a Pact Brasil intiative aimed at supporting National Policies and Local Movements for the Transgender Population in Brazil. By strengthening the technical and political actions of the organized social movement, the activities of the program contribute to the National Plan to Confront the AIDS Epidemic and STD among Gays, MSM and Transvestites. Taking into consideration the history of the Brazilian transvestite social movement and the government guidelines directed at this population group, all activities profit from advancements and results achieved thus far by the movement which allows for greater dissemination of the experience throughout the Latin America region and a heavier influence on HIV/AIDS policies. The specific objectives of the program:

(1) Contribute in strengthening the HIV/AIDS strategy implemented with transvestites, through the dissemination of results and transfer of technology;
(2) Expand participation in processes of citizen “watchdog” efforts of public policies in HIV/AIDS for MSM and transvestites, through trainings with the organized social movement.
