Katie Schwarm

Vice President, East and West Africa


Katie Schwarm brings over twenty years of experience in management, systems implementation, and marketing, sales and clinical service delivery to her position as Vice President, East and West Africa in which she oversees and supports project implementation and program staff in Washington, D.C. and Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, the DRC, Nigeria, Rwanda, Burundi, and Namibia.

Her background encompasses program design, donor relations, project management, implementation and monitoring and evaluation with extensive experience in Africa. Prior to this role, Ms. Schwarm was a country representative with Population Services International (PSI) in South Africa. In this position, she led a team of 450 individuals in achieving health impact objectives in HIV/AIDS and reproductive health programming. She was also responsible for strategic growth, increasing program efficiencies, fundraising, staff development, and organizational evolution.

Additionally, Ms. Schwarm served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Kenya, and held both a program manager and regional director position for Southern Africa for PSI. In these positions, she managed an annual $17 million portfolio, and oversaw program quality, new business development and compliance with legal and donor requirements in South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Madagascar and Botswana.
