Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining Data Dialogue Event

University of Surrey joins the World Bank and Pact in global artisanal and small-scale mining data initiative

Please join us on Friday, May 5th as the University of Surrey hosts a full day dialogue event for UK and European academics and professionals working in the artisanal and small-scale mining sector. The event will be focused on the role better data can play in advancing the sector, the development of a global ASM database and sharing of ideas around key ASM debates. The first half of the day will feature presentations by donors, NGOs and consultants regarding their work in the ASM sector and will highlight the type of data that is needed to better inform interventions and policy decisions about the sector. The second half of the day will feature presentations by the academic community regarding their research in the ASM sector. This event is a part of a larger initiative to facilitate greater ASM data sharing across the sector and to recognize the ASM sector’s important contributions to global development.
