Innovation for Sustainability in the Mining Sector hosted by IGF, WEF and PDAC

A World Bank-Pact Representative will be attending the Innovation for Sustainability in the Mining Sector event hosted by the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF), the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC).

Event Details from IGF Secretariat:

Meeting the SDGs by 2030 will require unprecedented cooperation and collaboration among governments, private sector, communities, and non-governmental organizations. The mining sector has the opportunity and potential to positively contribute to all 17 SDGs. Many of the minerals produced by mining are also essential building blocks to technologies, infrastructure, energy and agriculture. This Sustainability Forum will discuss the important role that innovation will play in the mining sector to help achieve the SDGs. Innovation can take many forms including technology, finance, business models, and partnerships throughout all stages of mine development.

Registration will open at 12:00pm. The main event will commence at 1:00pm with a short presentation and panel discussion introducing the topic. Delegates will then separate into roundtable discussions focused on exploring an innovation theme in depth. The event will then close with another panel discussion.

Following the event conclusion at 5:00pm a complimentary reception will be held.
