Five Years of Corporate Social Responsibility in Belarus

Five Years of Corporate Social Responsibility in Belarus

Five years ago, corporate social responsibility (CSR) was a virtually unknown concept in Belarus. Today, civic events such as Artist and the City and Jazz or Classic Music in the City have mobilized millions, raised private funds and made Minsk’s public spaces more vibrant, diverse and European.

In the past, NGOs and local businesses in Belarus rarely worked together to address social or environmental issues. Then, five years ago, Pact – via its USAID-supported BRAMA program - helped to establish an organization called Fond of Ideas to promote CSR among civil society and businesses, seeing it as a space for civic dialogue and a tool for inter-sectoral cooperation for a public good.
