USAID Green Invest Asia Past Project

Country: Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam
Funder: USAID

USAID Green Invest Asia operates across Southeast Asia, with an initial focus on Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia and the Philippines. The project is catalyzing private sector finance to upscale and drive investments in agriculture, forestry, and other land use toward low emissions, yet profitable business models. USAID Green Invest Asia identifies and develops promising climate-smart business deals with solid profit potential for investors. The project engages with financial institutions and investors to link them to pipeline opportunities and bridge financial and technical gaps necessary to overcome barriers to investment in businesses that are environmentally and socially responsible. It provides direct technical services to enterprises desiring to "green" their supply chains and assists in structuring corresponding financial deals to reduce investor risk. USAID Green Invest Asia is implemented by Pact, with partners MSP and Control Union. Learn more here

Mekong Connections: Supporting Governance, Transparency and Local Voices

Country: Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam
Funder: U.S. State Department

Mekong Connections is building an engagement network of key stakeholders to foster transboundary collaboration and information-sharing among local voices on key policy challenges facing the Mekong region. The network will focus on governance and transparency projects from the perspectives of community actors, enhance and develop regional networks to connect community perspectives to central policy debates in the Mekong, share global lessons learned and best practices on transboundary challenges in the region and beyond, and propose concrete policy approaches to these challenges. Ultimately, small-grant awardees and fellows funded through Mekong Connections will strengthen community voices and civil society directly.

Sustainable Infrastructure Partnership

Country: Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam
Funder: U.S. State Department

The Sustainable Infrastructure Partnership works with governments in the Lower Mekong region to build capacity for managing the impacts of environmental change. The program supports planners and policymakers in the use of technical and conceptual tools to better understand how pressures on land and water resources are affecting local populations. SIP provides training in applying cumulative impact assessment, enables collaboration for monitoring and managing socioeconomic data, and promotes sharing of data and information about water resources. The program serves as a platform for countries to cooperate in addressing transboundary development challenges, including the impacts of upstream hydropower dams on the Mekong. Through training, dialogue and partnerships, countries are better able to anticipate and manage issues such as reduced fishery yields, salinity intrusion, and groundwater depletion. SIP is implemented by Pact and is part of the Mekong-US Partnership, which builds on the work of the previous Lower Mekong Initiative in strengthening water security in the region. Learn more here.

WE Act: Empowering Young Women Entrepreneurs in Cambodia

Country: Cambodia
Funder: USAID

This Pact-led project supports young women entrepreneurs in Cambodia to reach their full potential. By supporting young women entrepreneurs to strengthen their skills, business linkages and participation with relevant associations, we strengthen families, communities and Cambodia overall. The project is focusing on urban-based micro, small and medium businesses owned by young women, ages 18 to 30. The project is working to address key challenges to their businesses through capacity development, network expansion, information sharing, access to finance and markets and more. In partnership with existing actors in the entrepreneur system, the project is supporting them to better serve the needs of young women entrepreneurs. The project also works to reduce economic gender barriers in Cambodia and stimulate women's participation in decision-making processes.
