Kurt MacLeod has been at Pact for more than 20 years. He was the organization’s first country director in Laos and in Myanmar. As Cambodia country director, he helped integrate international standards into national policies on anti-corruption, freedom of information and the rights of people with HIV/AIDS. As Asia’s regional director, he guided Pact’s expansion into six new countries. Among Kurt’s other achievements: He pioneered Pact’s first climate change initiative – the Reducing Emissions for Deforestation and Degradation (REDD) mechanism – and facilitated relief efforts after Myanmar’s Cyclone Nargis. As a program associate in Washington, he designed Pact’s first global management information system.
