Soon after South Sudan became an independent country, Pact began working with local partners on the ground to bolster civil society and public services here.
Our Access to Justice project educated citizens about the law and women’s rights, encouraged non-violent dispute resolution, trained paralegals to supplement the efforts of the country’s few lawyers, and operated legal aid clinics.
Today, Pact is working in South Sudan to reach and sustain HIV epidemic control among pregnant and breastfeeding women, adolescents, infants and children. The Adolescents and Children HIV Incidence Reduction, Empowerment and Virus Elimination project, or ACHIEVE, is a five-year global effort that includes programming in South Sudan. ACHIEVE works with USAID Missions, national governments and existing response partners to identify gaps in HIV prevention and treatment programming among target populations. Using best practices and expertise along with innovations, the project is addressing critical gaps to meet country-specific epidemic control goals. Learn more about ACHIEVE here.
