Pact and its local partners are making a difference in some of Ukraine's most critical struggles—for democracy, for women's rights and for HIV epidemic control.

Since 2008, Pact has supported local pro-reform civil society organizations working to promote government transparency and accountability, European integration and civic involvement. These civil society partners played a key role in Ukraine’s so-far reforms, and today, they are leading the country’s continued reform efforts. With funding from USAID, Pact's ENGAGE project is increasing civic education, promoting democratic reforms through local coalitions and ensuring lasting civic engagement in Ukraine. In addition, ENGAGE is building inclusion of marginalized, hard-to-reach and vulnerable groups.

With funding from Global Affairs Canada, Pact is also advancing gender equality and human rights for women and girls in Ukraine. We are building the capacity of women’s rights organizations, supporting advocacy campaigns and promoting inclusion of the women’s movement into a broader reform agenda and national development processes. Pact also helps rural, marginalized and vulnerable women to improve their economic security by enabling their success as employees and entrepreneurs. 

Pact's newest project in Ukraine is accelerating efforts to achieve HIV epidemic control by 2030 by improved prevention, testing and linkages to care among key populations. Pact and its partners are helping people living with HIV to learn their status and get appropriate HIV care.
