Lights, Camera, Action! Women-led groups produce videos highlighting community issues

March 8, 2020

What happens when you collaborate with 20 enthusiastic women from remote villages in Myanmar, empowering them to shine a light on issues affecting their lives?

This is exactly what Pact is doing in Kayin State with its innovative Participatory Action Study. PAS is part of the Advancing Community Empowerment project, supported by USAID. Through PAS, women between the ages of 18 and 35 take part in three workshops where they learn how to capture with a smartphone important issues that are affecting their communities and need to be addressed. Over the course of the workshops, women’s groups from five villages in Hlaingbwe Township, Kayin State collaborated with Pact Myanmar to identify issues affecting women and girls and produce videos to share with their communities.
