Redefining the future through Indigenous concepts from the Amazon
September 11, 2022
Environment, Capacity development

SCIOA Regional Director Vanessa Coronado presented the paper titled "Redefining the future through Indigenous concepts from the Amazon: What does “sustainable development” mean when seeking harmony for our Earth?" at the International Conference on Sustainable Development. This presentation focused on the importance of reframing development programs around the Indigenous conceptualization of the future and development. Based on the SCIOA’s experience Vanessa presented how the project has operationalized this perspective by working hand-in-hand with Indigenous Peoples Organizations (IPOs) in the Amazon to strengthen the capacity of IPOs to lead sustainable development efforts on their terms.
