International Women's Day: Women's empowerment in Myanmar's Kayah State

To mark International Women’s Day, we reflect on the dedicated work that the Karenni National Women's Organization (KNWO) is doing as part of the Advancing Community Empowerment (ACE) project supported by USAID. KNWO plays a critical role in strengthening the coordination and delivery of gender-based violence response with government, non-state actors and community members in seven townships in Karenni (Kayah) State. In addition, KNWO provides safe house protection, basic health services, access to justice and social support for women and children survivors of abuse.

This year’s International Women’s Day is about #BalanceforBetter – a call to work together to build a gender-balanced world. Let's all help create a #BalanceforBetter.
