World Teachers Day: Investing in education for rural communities in Southeastern Myanmar

October 5, 2019

To mark World Teachers Day, which is celebrated October 5, Pact Myanmar is proudly highlighting Mon National Education Committee (MNEC), one of the Responsive Health, Education and Livelihoods Services (RHELS) grants issued under the USAID-funded Advancing Community Empowerment (ACE) project.

Through the ACE project, MNEC is providing quality education to rural communities in 9 townships which are underserved and hard to reach communities in Southeastern Myanmar including Mon and Kayin States and Tanintharyi Region that have been affected by conflict. MNEC is aiming to ensure access to quality basic education for 11,000 students in their mother tongue that complements the national curriculum.

This is one of several RHELS grants being disbursed under the USAID-funded project. While this funding opportunity under ACE has now closed, there are additional funding openings available such as the: ACE request for applications for private sector collaboration to strengthen agricultural value chains.
