Ecuador
Pact’s work in Ecuador has helped to build the capacity of Indigenous groups to protect their rights and the environment. Learn more below.
In Ecuador, as well as in Brazil, Colombia, Suriname, Guyana, and Peru, Pact supported Indigenous people's organizations to increase their influence in the governance of the Amazon region, in order to protect Indigenous people's rights and the environment in the Amazon rainforest. Our efforts worked to reduce the negative impacts of economic development, including infrastructure projects and extractive activities, on Amazon forests and water resources. Through evidence-based programming and culturally relevant capacity development tools, Pact strengthened Indigenous organizations to access and manage financial resources and take ownership of their own development planning and priorities.
