Myanmar
As one of the longest-serving international NGOs in the country, Pact has been helping people in Myanmar to improve their lives since 1997. We use locally developed and owned solutions and work closely with communities. Learn more below.
Pact designs and implements projects that maximize local ownership and leverage existing systems and networks. Our work in Myanmar has covered a broad spectrum of interventions, including health, livelihoods, local governance, civil society strengthening, and renewable energy.
To achieve transformative social impact, we have combined community education with grassroots governance through Village Development Committees and financial sustainability through Village Development Funds. This unique, community-led approach promoted inclusive and participatory village decision-making, supported transparent and accountable community development, and mentored organizations to develop their institutional capacity. The impact has continued long after our role ended.
Today, through Smart Power Myanmar, Pact is helping to accelerate access to reliable, affordable renewable energy in off-grid areas by bringing together key players in the public and private sectors, transforming lives in rural communities with electrification.
